Good Earth Ltd was founded in India in 1948 and its activities initially revolved around the importation and sale of agricultural equipment. In 1958 Good Earth became Eicher Ltd and, over the next few years, began to build its own-brand tractors, using home sourced components. In 1980 the name was changed again, this time to Eicher Good Earth. In 1986 Eicher started to manufacture other types of motor vehicles in technical and financial collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation of Japan. In 1994 the technical assistance of Mitsubishi ended and, in December 1995, the independent Eicher produced their first City Map - of Delhi. A growing range of travel products has since followed, including streetmaps, atlases and guides.
